Geography

At Courthill Infant School we endeavour to inspire all pupils and create curiosity and fascination about the world.

Our pupil’s start their geography knowledge learning in Foundation where they are guided to make sense of their physical world and their community through opportunities to explore, observe and find out about people, places, technology and the environment.

The children then build on their geographical skills and knowledge in Key Stage 1. Our progressive curriculum teaches children knowledge about the world and opportunities are provided for children to deepen their understanding by applying, analysing and comparing their knowledge.

The specific aspects of this subject which are taught across Key Stage 1 are:

·         Location knowledge

·         Place knowledge

·         Human and Physical Geography

·         Geographical Skills and Fieldwork
